Danmarks ambitiøse klimamål er resulteret i ny lovgivning til byggebranchen og den 1. januar 2023 blev der indført nye krav til byggebranchens aktører. Kravene skal accelerere den grønne omstilling og sikre, at Danmark når ambitiøse klimamål. Folketinget indgik i foråret 2021 en politisk aftale, der skal mindske byggeriets klimapåvirkning gennem en række ændringer af Bygningsreglementet 2018 (BR18). Ændringerne trådte i kraft den 1. januar 2023 og indeholder krav om en Life Cycle Assessment (LCA-beregning) for alt nybyggeri og krav om maksimal klimapåvirkning fra nybyggeri over 1.000 m2.
