Oakland's Experiment: Paying a Guaranteed Income

Oakland will launch one of the country's biggest guaranteed income programs this spring. The idea is to give 600 residents – all of them low-income parents of color – a monthly payment of $500 a month for at least 18 months with no strings attached.
