OBEDIENCE AT ANY COST (Acts 21: 1-26)

Is there anyone that you would obey at any cost?  No matter what they said, you would immediately obey their commands, with no questions and no matter what the consequences were.  Your wife or husband? Your boss?  As a child, did you immediately obey your parents? Or even your pastor?  The answer to this question is probably no.  There are limits on what you would do at the command of any one person. Even those in the military know that they are required by the Uniform Code of Military Justice to follow all lawful orders, even if it means sacrificing their lives.  But notice that even this has its limits. The UCMJ specifically states that a soldier is not to obey an unlawful order.  In fact, it is a crime for them to comply with the unlawful order of a superior.    So, my question is this, is there any such thing as obedience at any cost, under any circumstance?  For the Christian the answer is yes.  We are commanded by God’s Word to completely surrender our will to that of our Lord Jesus.  We are the slave, He is the Master.   Now, let me ask, is that your relationship with Christ?  Or do you still decide when you will commit yourself in obedience?  Do you wait to see what the command is, then ask yourself if this is within your capabilities and desires, and then make your decision to obey or not?  Do you ever tell God, “Ok God, I hear you, but let me pray about that for while and I will get back with you.” You see, that is the difference between a life committed to our Lord Jesus, and a life totally surrendered to our Lord Jesus Christ.  When you commit yourself to something, or someone, you retain the decision rights to obey a command or not.  But when you are surrendered to Christ, you have no decision to make, you just immediately obey the Lord’s command.  Click on the link below to hear a message on what obedience at any cost means for the Christ follower.
