What this episode covers
Exhortation is different from testimony. Peter witnessed Jesus on earth. Exhortation is directive so that you have a testimony. You say, "I love Jesus." Where? What is the evidence? Obedience will always result in suffering in the world. If all you get is encouragement and never receive exhoration, you will obviously not be living in a way that pleases Christ.God brings favor/grace where it is not deserved in my life and salvation. If I respond to the undeserved grace I have received, God will give more grace. God initiates. We should respond. You did not earn it. Obedience is the act of gratitude. In Acts 15:23-29, abstain from things offered to idols/blood/strangled things and sexual immorality. Peter knew Silvanus in Jerusalem before he stayed at the church to minister. Peter sends Silvanus with reference of faithfulness from Peter. Silas sat in prison with Paul and sang. You were not just called to be saved, but called to obey. Silas was ministering to the minsters (Paul and Peter). "Pastor Kirk is a truck coming through with his teaching, but there is a reason he is going like he is and that is because he has this bulldozer pushing from behind named Joyce". May we be ministers to our ministers.
