OBEDIENCE OVER SACRIFICE!

Scripture: “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.” — 1 Samuel 15:22 (NIV) Message: In 1 Samuel 15:22, we are reminded that God desires obedience more than outward religious acts. While sacrifices were part of worship in the Old Testament, they were never meant to replace a heart that listens and submits to God's will. Saul’s failure wasn’t just a military misstep—it was a spiritual act of rebellion masked with a religious offering. Today, we too can be tempted to offer God “sacrifices” like time, money, or service while neglecting His specific instructions for our lives. We may justify disobedience with good intentions, but God values a humble, obedient heart above all. Obedience reflects our trust and love for God. It shows that we honour His wisdom over our own. Even when obedience is hard or costly, it leads to blessing, alignment with God’s purpose, and deeper intimacy with Him. Today, ask yourself: Am I offering sacrifices while neglecting the very things God has clearly told me to obey? Prayer: Almighty Father, give me a heart that delights in obedience. Help me not to replace true obedience with rituals or good deeds, but to fully surrender to Your will. Teach me to walk closely with You, obeying even when it’s difficult. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
