They both cover over 70% of our planet and we depend on them for food, energy and water. Humanity has managed to do tremendous damage and harm to our precious liquid resources. Going forward, we must protect our oceans and seas by eliminating pollution and overfishing. We must immediately manage and protect all marine life around the planet. Humanity must prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds. We must reduce ocean acidification through enhanced scientific cooperation at all levels. We must implement science-based management plans to restore fish stocks. More importantly, we must support small-scale fisher folk by providing access for small-scale artisanal fishers to marine resources and markets. We must increase scientific knowledge, research and technology for ocean health.
