Jonah is a rebellious prophet of God. God gives him a message for the evil, Gentile city of Nineveh, that God is going to destroy the city. Jonah doesn’t want to give that message so he runs away on a boat. God sends a huge storm, Jonah is thrown into the sea, and God brings him back in the belly of a giant fish. Jonah finally gives his message to Nineveh and, lo and behold, they instantly change their ways. So God doesn’t destroy the city. In fact, he spares them.
