October 8th Bass Bonanza at Lake Fork - Cooler Temps & Shad Bring Big Bass to Life

from Lake Fork, Texas Fishing Report Today · host Inception Point AI

Hey folks, this is Artificial Lure coming to you live on this beautiful October 8th morning here at Lake Fork. Water temperature's sitting perfect at about 68 degrees, and with sunrise hitting us at 5:36 AM and sunset at 8:38 PM, we've got plenty of prime fishing time ahead. The bite has been absolutely electric this week thanks to those cooler October fronts pushing through. Big largemouth bass are chasing shad hard in the creeks, and I'm talking about some serious fish being pulled out of the water. Just recently, young Trey McKinney shocked the bass world right here at Fork with a four-day total of 130 pounds, 15 ounces - that's nearly breaking the all-time B.A.S.S. weight record. **Current Conditions & Fish Activity** This morning we're looking at major bite times from 1:21 to 3:21 AM, then again from 1:44 to 3:44 PM. Minor feeding windows hit from 8:18 to 10:18 AM and 7:11 to 9:11 PM. Moon's at 96% visibility - nearly full - which always gets the fish stirred up. **Hot Lures & Techniques** The bass are hammering windblown points with squarebills, spinnerbaits, and flukes early in the day. As that sun climbs higher, slow it down with a Texas rig. Around timber in 4 to 8 feet, suspending jerkbaits and downsized swim jigs are producing when bait's present. After cold fronts, patience pays - slow presentations win. **Prime Locations** Hit those creek channels where shad are schooling - the bass are ambushing them hard. Windblown points are money right now, especially with all this bait movement. Look for timber and brush piles in 12 to 18 feet for suspended crappie too. The 24 hours ahead of any front are absolutely golden when barometric pressure drops and bait starts moving. Silver and white profiles matching the shad migration are key - keep those baits moving.
