October Surprise, October Twenty-first, 2023 - A Call to Tears.

Today, our intercession is directed at our actual enemy, sin, death, and the devil. To my tribe first, with the events we have seen magnified dramatically since 2019, there can be no doubt, "The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?" Jeremiah 17:9 "how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?" Hebrews 2:3a Convicted by the word yesterday, Jesus wept in the face of the sin that causes death ("for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”) today, let us pray united in sorrow. The world needs to apprehend the need for our Savior. In his treatise "The Emotional Life of our Lord," B.B. Warfield" gets to the heart of Jesus' battle for our redemption. The tears He wept with Mary in John 11 were born of His holy rage and compassion for the foe of death. Warfield explains in his conclusion: "What John does for us in this particular statement is to uncover to us the heart of Jesus as he wins for us our salvation. Not in cold unconcern but in flaming wrath against the foe, Jesus smites in our behalf. He has not only saved us from the evils that oppress us; he has felt for and with us in our oppression, and under the impulse of these feelings has wrought out our redemption." Prayer: Break our hearts, sweet Jesus, our blessed Redeemer, for what breaks your heart, our enemy is death and hell. Bring us to our knees in rage against sin, death, and the devil. "What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more."
