Odyssey translation notes by Emily WIlson | Staff Selects

Glad to have you listening with us today! I wanted to continue with the discussion on the Odyssey by reading a bit from a translation of The Odyssey by Emily Wilson, but first for anyone unfamiar; There has been some interesting online discourse over The Odyssey about translation choices and such, which made me want to talk about the nature of translations and compare a few. So here we are, and this time with an actual reading! Today we will be reading one of my favorite translations of the Odyssey, with Caitlin as your reader, and reading in a simple plain prose style. Hope you enjoy. We hope you enjoy this sneak peak, and as always if you enjoy the story then we invite you to visit your local library and ask them to reserve it for you! If you can't find it at your library, then you will want to follow my Project Gutenberg guide, so please check it out to learn more! - Check out the Library Systems official website where you can find links to free resources, school and career guides, and news about our upcoming events! https://www.pawls.org/ -Follow us on YouTube and enjoy our backlog of digital story hours and other great content! https://www.youtube.com/@pawls365 Original background track is The Talons Of Adventure, The Antlers Of Romance by Doctor Turtle, music from the freemusicarchive.org https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Doctor_Turtle/none_given_1561/Doctor_Turtle_-_You_Um_Ill_Ah1/ The Talons Of Adventure, The Antlers Of Romance by Doctor Turtle is licensed under a Attribution 4.0 International License.
