Off-Script Ohio: Buckeyes blank Grambling, look ahead to Ohio U

On Off-Script Ohio, brought to you by Land-Grant Holy Land, Cole VanWiechen and Joey Gertz return for episode four, recapping Ohio State’s 70-0 win over Grambling State and breaking down the latest Big Ten storylines. Freshman quarterback Julian Sayin stole the show, starting 16-for-16 and finishing 18-of-19 for 306 yards and four touchdowns. His only incompletion was an interception that never hit the ground. Bo Jackson added 108 rushing yards and a score, while Jeremiah Smith (119 yards, 2 TD) and Carnell Tate (69 yards, TD) paced the receivers. Defensively, young stars Riley Pettijohn, Kayden McDonald, and Aaron Scott led the way, with my favourite moment of the night coming when Grambling missed a field goal to preserve the shutout. Some position battles also came into focus. Will Kaczmarek looks like TE1, while the punt return role remains unsettled between Brandon Innis and Bryson Rodgers. Around the Big Ten, Michigan fell to Oklahoma, Illinois dominated Duke, Penn State eventually overpowered FIU, and Oregon rolled Oklahoma State. Wisconsin handled Middle Tennessee and will look ahead to Alabama, while UCLA slipped to 0-2 after a shocking loss to UNLV. Looking ahead, Ohio State hosts Ohio University under the lights. The Buckeyes’ linebackers will need to contain dual-threat QB Parker Navarro, while WR Chase Hendricks looms as the Bobcats’ biggest weapon.
