Unlike others, her focus was not to jump on trends to further her career, but to remain true to her identity - something we can all learn from. Beyond the poor state of the music industry, we discussed how perseverance and personality trumps talent when it comes to delivering success. Her success has centered on using real-life issues to inspire better songwriting and to achieve her ultimate ambition of independence.
