‘Often indirect but always harmful’: International students seek stronger campus action on racism

from SBS Hindi

Australia’s first national report on racism in universities has found the problem to be widespread and systemic. It revealed that 70 per cent of students and staff surveyed across 42 universities had witnessed racism, with higher rates reported among Indigenous, Chinese, African, Jewish and Middle Eastern communities. Despite this, only six per cent of those who experienced racism lodged a formal complaint. SBS Hindi spoke to Indian international students to understand their perspective.
