OH 44-9/11/2001 : Imperial Commemorations & Collective Amnesia w/Rabab Abdulhadi & Sina Rahmani

from The East is a Podcast

***Adnan Husain invited me to join him and Rabab Abdulhadi for livestream conversation on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 WTC attacks. This is first hour! We continued for another hour plus! To listen to the entire episode subscribe on Patreon or watch the episode on the EIAP YouTube channel***   Friday is the 25th Anniversary of 9/11/2001 and all that followed from the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon: the launching of the "Global War on Terrorism", the wars and occupations in Afghanistan and Iraq, the drone campaigns across Africa and Asia, the securitization and surveillance regimes threatening political rights, the globalizing of paradigms of Islamophobia. What do imperial/imperialist commemorations "forget" as if history began on 9/11/2001 or 10/7/2023? Some talk about the GWOT as history, but has it ended? The anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect upon the last twenty five years and the contrasts and continuities with contemporary conditions. Join me, Dr. Rabab Abdulhadi (San Francisco State University) and Sina Rahmani (East is a Podcast). Bring your comments and questions!
