Oh, Reel Original! - S1E1 - Hooking Up Without Catching Feelings with Bri Morrison

from Oh, Reel Original! · host Corey Dempsey and Andrew Beam

The boys are joined by Albany based comedian Bri Morrison to analyze a pair of rom-coms that are all about the quest to hook up without catching feelings. Of course, because this is a rom-com, that quest is ultimately a failure, but will our movie couples learn some things about themselves in the process and potentially find everlasting happiness, whatever the hell that means.  This week’s pair of Twin Films are the 2011 romantic comedies, Friends With Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis and No Strings Attached starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. After a spirited discussion about the couples’ romantic chemistry (or lack thereof) [9:58], the boys and Bri discuss all the standard tropes that we all know and love from romantic comedies:  there’s the meet-cutes [32:24], the sex montage [46:39], the break-up [53:20], and finally the reconciliation and the all-important rom-com speech [1:01:44].  Credits:  This episode was recorded at The Jive Hive in Albany, NY Video Production by Nick Baish Audio Production and Engineering by Alec Lewis Production Supervision by Mikey Baish Video Editing by Ejaniia Clayton Chapters (00:00:00) - O'Reill Original: Twin Films The Fight(00:04:10) - Three Judges Score the(00:04:57) - Best Movie That Attempts To Hook Up With A Girl(00:05:42) - Bri on The Rom Com(00:07:09) - No Strings Attached(00:08:09) - No Strings Attached vs. Friends With Benefits(00:09:50) - The Directors of No Strings Attached and Friends With Benefits(00:12:15) - Kathryn Hahn in 'The Help'(00:12:31) - Ashton Kutcher vs Natalie Portman in No Strings Att(00:15:57) - Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman in 'No strings attached(00:18:22) - Best Friends With Benefits(00:22:00) - How to Forget Who's In Your Face(00:22:57) - Jake Johnson and Greta Gerwig in Friends With Benefits(00:24:42) - He Didn't Recognize Natalie Portman In '(00:26:00) - Fool With Benefits Cameos(00:27:27) - No Strings Attached vs. No(00:29:40) - No Strings Attached: A 10(00:30:58) - RomCom Tactic(00:32:28) - Friends With Benefits: The Meet Cute(00:36:49) - Adam Asks Emma Portman If He Can Finger Her In The(00:40:19) - The Fourth Meet Cute In '(00:42:19) - Adam Sandler on The Fourth Me(00:44:43) - Friends With Benefits(00:46:36) - The Dating Montage Sex montage(00:48:07) - Good Sex Is All About Communication(00:50:03) - No Strings Attached vs Friends With Benefits Sex montage(00:52:42) - UFC 170(00:53:23) - No Strings Attached vs Friends With Benefits: Which One Was(00:58:36) - No Strings Attached vs. Friends With Benefits(01:01:42) - Friends With Benefits: The Sequel(01:03:19) - Oh My!
