Unity is submitting our individuality to be a part of a greater impact than we could have on our own. We are more powerful together than separate. Because of the blood of Jesus cleansing us, God the Holy Spirit lives in us; and He gives us unity. The church is never told to create unity. There is a unity that exists in the church by virtue of the simple fact that the church exists. We human beings are incapable of producing this unity which is so essential to the life of the body.
