Ohio Is for Spooky Tunnels: The Haunting of Moonville

Deep within Ohio's Zaleski State Forest lies the abandoned Moonville Tunnel, a crumbling railroad passage with a history as dark as the shadows inside it. Once part of a bustling mining town connected by the Marietta & Cincinnati Railroad, the tunnel witnessed tragic accidents, deadly train collisions, and the slow disappearance of an entire community. But according to local legend... not everyone left. This week, we're exploring the documented history of Moonville, the fatal 1880 railroad collision that may have sparked its most famous ghost story, and the eerie reports that have persisted for more than a century. So settle in, spooky nerds, and join me as we dive into the history and folklore of Ohio’s most haunted railway. Plus, enjoy some bonus commentary from our special guest, Brandon Lawrence (my resident ghost).Got a story to tell?
