from The Ohio State University-Main Campus Podcast · host ohio-state-university-main-campus

Good morning, Buckeyes! Here's your campus news update for Monday, September 15, 2025. Ohio State has launched the AI Fluency initiative, providing resources for faculty to integrate artificial intelligence into their teaching. The new "AI Fluency at Ohio State" newsletter offers updates and showcases how instructors are incorporating AI in learning spaces. In support of this initiative, Ohio State and Google Public Sector hosted Data and AI Day at Ohio Stadium, granting students, faculty, and staff access to advanced AI tools. The Board of Trustees has recognized five new Distinguished University Professors, the highest faculty honor at Ohio State. This title is held in perpetuity and acknowledges exceptional scholarly achievements. The Ohio State University Airport is hosting a free community open house on Friday, September 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. Attendees can tour the terminal, meet aviation professionals, and view aircraft displays. No registration is required. The Buckeyes have climbed to No. 1 in the AP Top 25 college football poll after defeating preseason No. 1 Texas. This marks Ohio State's first time topping the regular-season rankings since 2015. Additionally, the Week 1 matchup between Ohio State and Texas set a new viewership record, drawing 16.62 million viewers—the highest ever for an opening weekend game. Ohio's public college campuses are adjusting to life under Senate Bill 1, which bans diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. At Ohio State, resident advisers now face restrictions on decorating common areas and hosting events unless they are strictly OSU-themed. Student groups are organizing protests and voicing concerns over the bill's implications. As the autumn semester begins, Ohio State has increased the presence of police on the Columbus campus by hiring and training additional officers. Collaboration with the Columbus Division of Police has led to joint patrols in neighborhoods where many students live. That's all for today's update. Stay safe and Go Buckeyes!
