The minute Chip Trayanum punched the ball into the endzone, steamrolling and churning his legs forward against Notre Dame's defensive line, I knew that the game was won by Ohio State. But after blowing a 10-0 lead and surrendering the football due to multiple, inexcusable errors, how did Ohio State Football march down to Notre Dame's endzone and take the game by force? Not only did Ohio State have more talented players than Notre Dame, they had the better coaching staff who made the right decisions to bring the Buckeyes within striking distance. Quarterback Kyle McCord was 21/37 for 240 yards, and in that final drive, he was 5/12 for 73 yards, making some mistakes but also accurate throws to convert the 1st down and move the chains. Running back Chip Trayanum and wide receiver Emeka Egbuka were the most valuable players for the Buckeyes, and they were critical pieces on that last drive. In my analysis, I make it clear that Ohio State won this Top 10 matchup because they were mentally tough and disciplined. The Ohio State Buckeyes were out-coached, out-schemed, and beaten several times throughout the game, but when it mattered most, Ryan Day, his staff, and his players were better than anything Notre Dame could bring to the table.
