Ukraiński cykl bożonarodzeniowy to trzy duże święta: Boże Narodzenie, Małanka (święto Melanii i Wasyla), Wodochreszcze (Święto Chrztu Pańskiego, Święto Jordanu). Każde ze świąt poprzedza wigilia, podczas której spożywa się określone potrawy. Najpopularniejsza jest kutia, zawierająca ziarno pszenicy i maku – symbole płodności. Na stole nie brakuje też potraw z grzybów, grochu, kapusty, buraków, mąki, miodu, ryb, suszonych owoców. Pierwszego dnia Świąt (7 stycznia) zaczynają się wizyty grup kolędniczych. Podobnie 13 stycznia – wtedy do domów przychodzą „szczodrować”, czyli życzyć urodzaju i zdrowia na przyszły rok. Cykl bożonarodzeniowy kończy Święto Jordanu (19 stycznia) .Tego dnia, po liturgii, z cerkwi wyrusza procesja do najbliższej rzeki, stawu. Tam batiuszka święci wodę, którą wierni zabierają ze sobą do domów. • O obrzędach, zwyczajach związanych z Bożym Narodzeniem w Ukrainie opowiada Tetiana Sopiłka – etnomuzykolożka, wokalistka, pedagożka, członkini kijowskiego zespołu Drevo, założycielka warszawskiej Dziczki. • Podcast powstał we współpracy z Narodowym Instytutem Muzyki i Tańca w ramach programu muzykatradycyjna.pl 2022 prowadzonego przez Forum Muzyki Tradycyjnej oraz Pracownię Muzyki i Tańca Tradycyjnego.
