New Old Dominion (@ODU_MBB) head coach Mike Jones (@ODU_CoachMJ) joins the podcast to talk about taking over at his alma mater. Jones was the head coach at DeMatha for around 20 years, as well as a player there, so we talk about that experience and what he learned from legendary DeMatha head coach Morgan Wootten. He was also an assistant coach at Virginia Tech under Mike Young and at Maryland under Kevin Willard so we discuss that as well. Jones talks about his coaching philosophy and the style of play he'd like to employ, as well as the type of player and person he intends to recruit. He also shared some great anecdotes about playing at ODU, like being No. 3 seed Villanova in three overtimes in the 1995 NCAA Tournament, and playing in the DMV, including which was actually the best DeMatha team of all-time.
