Old Mortality Volume 1 Chapter 18
from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which the triumphant but disordered Covenanters gather after a victorious skirmish, their spirits buoyed by fervour yet their ranks unsettled by varied counsel and pressing necessities. Among them, fervent preachers, each with distinct voices and zeal, inspire the armed peasants to steadfastness and resolve, infusing their perilous cause with sanctity and purpose amidst the rugged desolation.
