With Todd Giles on banjo, Jess Fox or Mike Kenny on Fiddle, Plamen Jetchev on Bass, and Jimmy Fox on guitar, The Poverty Line Old Time Band is futuregrass embodied. Lead and harmony vocals alike get passed around the group. In keeping with the true traditions of old-time music, Poverty Line features a repertoire of old mountain tunes about whiskey, murder, and chickens. Poverty Line formed in the fall of 2005. Todd and met Jimmy at Shay's Pub in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Poverty Line Old Time Band played a steady stream of shows in the Northeast, NYC, and beyond. At the time, you could catch Poverty Line in person at any bar serving beer and vittles, and offering good live music, at outdoor events, private parties, weddings, and in good weather, on any Harvard Square or Provincetown street corner.
