Old Space Show – Space 1999: “The Dorcons” with Jim Dietz
When this episode was originally set to drop, I was only saying farewell to the show Space: 1999. In the most tragic turn of events, it is also where I had to say farewell to my longtime co host of Old Space Show, Jim Dietz. Jim passed away suddenly on Monday, March 7th of 2022, and I’m still a bit spooked, shaken, saddened and lost since the news was shared with me. He was one of the best people to podcast with; always game, always available, always on time and always bringing his A-Game. I had no idea what was to become of our final recording together, the final episode of Old Space Show: Space 1999. And I didn’t care whether it was to ever be released or not, I wanted it to be at the wishes of his family and the folks over at HHWLOD. I was asked to pull it from the original scheduling and I had no issue in doing so. A week later, they gave me the go ahead and said it would be okay to publish. It’s not the same episode it originally was going to be. I’ve added a new introduction and end bumper from myself to acknowledge and reflect on what has happened. There were also some bits of banter in the episode I removed that played a bit more sensitive now. But, I hope people enjoy it as a celebration and one more chance to hear some new stuff from Jim and hang out with him for 43 more minutes. I will miss him forever and be grateful to have spent time on this Earth together. If you’d like to help out Jim’s family, there is a GoFundMe currently going on where you may do so. Donate to Jim’s memorial fundraiser The Brandon Peters Show will return tomorrow (3/22) with the Out Now Commentary for Batman & Robin (1997) TECHNICAL INFORMATION VocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LC (Skype Recorded Audio)Jim – Blue Yeti (Skype recorded audio) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 43 minutes If you’re wanting to watch along (as of this posting), Space: 1999 Series 2 is available to stream on Amazon Prime, Shout!
