Ole Miss vs Louisville Showdown | Louisville Football News

Ole Miss, ranked ninth and riding high off a 13-win season that took them to the College Football Playoff semifinals, kicks off 2026 against Louisville—ranked 24th and led by a coach who’s built a program of consistent nine-win seasons. With new head coach Pete Golding stepping in after Lane Kiffin’s departure, Ole Miss returns Heisman candidate QB Trinidad Chambliss and All-American RB Kewan Lacy, backed by a revamped offense under new OC John David Baker. Louisville, meanwhile, brings back a dominant defense anchored by Clev Lubin and four starters, proving they can beat top-tier teams—including Miami, which eliminated Ole Miss last year. This matchup promises fireworks, with Ole Miss aiming for another deep playoff run against a hungry, stingy Cardinals squad.
