Olive Branch

I saw you from across this very crowded bar Sipping a julep as sweet as I'm sure that you are Darling, I'm digging your style I had to come over once I saw that smile As I walked over, I started to think Of a clever way to ask if I could buy you a drink And God answered me as I started to pray This is what God thinks I should say: You are simply the most beautiful girl God says you're the finest creation he's brought to the world Baby, you've got to believe God says you don't but I'm begging you please To listen carefully To the last thing God needs me to say Pretty soon it's gonna rain And it won't stop For forty days I don't know why he's kept us apart But he wants us together to build him an ark I know you're drowning, but give me a chance And I'll be your olive branch
