Oliver Twist Chapter 39

In which we behold a sombre and ragged scene in a mean room where a fevered man lies attended by a pale and watchful woman, while old acquaintances bring scant comfort and provisions, and secret meetings hint at darker designs. The woman's desperate journey through London’s streets to deliver a bold message concludes amidst curious and disdainful onlookers, until she is granted entrance to speak at last with the lady who may hold her fate.
