Ollongren over NAVO-top: 'Dit was eens, maar nooit weer'

De NAVO-top heeft zijn doel bereikt. De nieuwe norm van vijf procent is afgesproken, maar het draaide toch vooral om het gevlij van Rutte naar Trump. Volgens oud-minister van Defensie Kajsa Ollongren was dit nodig, maar moet een NAVO-top nooit meer op deze manier. 'Dit was een horde die genomen moest worden.' Ollongren, die zelf als secretaris-generaal voor Rutte werkte op het ministerie van Algemene Zaken en minister in zijn kabinetten was, is niet verrast door de houding die Rutte aannam. 'Het was een vrij ver doorgevoerde vintage Rutte.' Wel stelt ze een kanttekening bij de houding van veel leiders. 'Je moet wel gelijkwaardig blijven, dat was nu niet het geval.' Toch is Ollongren optimistisch. 'Ik ben blij dat Oekraïne wel is gekomen. Ze gaan naar huis met een goed gesprek met Trump van vijftig minuten en Trump heeft toegezegd dat hij gaat kijken of er meer patriots (luchtafweer, red.) naar Oekraïne kunnen.' Ook staat de steun aan Oekraïne expliciet in de slotverklaring. Al gaat het dan wel om het woordje 'bondgenoten' en niet 'alle bondgenoten', een nuance zo ziet Ollongren. Vijf procent Wat we nu met die vijf procent moeten gaan doen is met name allemaal dezelfde dingen aanschaffen denkt Ollongren. 'Wat we niet meer moeten doen is een helikopter kopen en dan allemaal net wat anders doen. Van alles moet er één versie komen', aldus Ollongren. Die vijf procent is uit de lucht gegrepen. 'Die is er alleen gekomen vanwege Trump'. Nu gaat het om de implementatie tot 2035. 'Alleen hebben we die 10 jaar niet. Het moet sneller.' Gemor uit Europa, gelach in Amerika om 'daddy' Vanuit Europa klinkt daags na de NAVO-top toch wat meer gemor op de houding richting Trump, zo ziet Europa-verslaggever Geert Jan Hahn op de Europese top in Brussel.
