In the dead of night as people sleep that is when the spirits creep as the bell tolls three Dark things take power. We like to call it the supernatural Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour. This is your host Raven. This is Chad This is Doc.
This is Emmett. This is Drake, and we have to excuse the velmett tonight She's unable to meet with us today So we're just gonna start off and I mean we'll do kind of our normal thing So if you're one of those people that don't like change don't worry But I just have to start off with our main topic today is omens because it's Halloween time and omens seem kind of Halloweeny There's a lot of movies about omens, right? They're called the omen Exactly I had to sift through about hundreds of those before I could find actual research and their songs about omens which we had to sift through too I was like, you know what? There's movies and songs about this for a reason I want to get to the actual omens in who so as we're getting set up You know we zoom people in we're not all in studio at the same time.
I mean with zoom It's fantastic people can just stay home. They don't have to travel and thank you patrons for our pain for our zoom Thanks, so we don't have to restart all the time. Yeah, that kind of way in who everybody's logged on and we're still waiting for doc But we were you know just starting to do sound checks and our power went up. It was like well, that's fantastic And then it came right back on it flicker You know it kind of was off for 30 seconds or so Yeah, and then it went on every time it flickers you have to start over right now Well, yeah every time and I'm like well the computer still has power maybe it'll work but the soundboard's not gonna work And then then they said I froze and then we couldn't get the internet back on so our internet is still not back on we're just hot Spotting off a Chad's phone Yeah, because our router downstairs hasn't hadn't come back up We're hoping it will before you know all this isn't for the 10 minutes when when you guys were off the air We had the most Drake and I had the most incredible conversation of the other side and spirits and it's just too bad we weren't recording it It would have been like you know an Academy Award a Pulitzer Prize.
It was so good and and we lost it I'm so sorry gone forever So we're just gonna be kind of omens part one and then we're gonna jump into just kind of our normal stuff and then we'll do omens part two But I have to tell you what's about two weeks ago We had some thunderstorms roll through and I had actually fall on the sleep I don't know how long I was asleep, but lightning hits something literally like one street over and Chad was awake The sound woke me up about scared the crap out of me It was the loudest lightning strike simultaneous thunderclap that I have ever heard I mean No, you know it was close there was there was no differentiation It was like boom and it you know windows rattled literally I mean it would have had to be like half a block away at the most. Yeah, oh, yeah Oh, yeah, and it was I mean I was asleep and it was so loud I mean obviously it woke me up, but it was just like holy shit. What was that? It was like a gunshot in the bedroom.
Yeah, it was so loud. So are you sure this wasn't Docs neighborhood? Yeah, not kind of house blow up in his neighborhood. That was really loud too.
Holy cow. You heard it? You really heard it? Yeah, we were getting ready for my son's birthday party And I was driving one of my other kids to a birthday party and yeah, there was boom and then a bunch of Ambulance and fire trucks though.
Yeah, what happened is oh Oh, pretty wild stuff. Give a little rundown of what it was Doc because you're closer. It wasn't a peach orchard exploding Oh, I mean I can tell you what I've heard is that there was a 19 year old that was in the garage welding Something involving the propane tank. I don't know if they hit a propane tank or rolling on top of a propane tank, but the The assumption at this point is that the propane tank exploded and actually ended up killing the 19 year old and Did some serious damage to the house in back.
That's awful. Just drove by it today actually looking at it But yeah, it was pretty nuts and one of those really unexpected things up here So well and I found out I have a cousin that also lives up in that neighborhood She said it was a house two houses away from her well. Um, and this is a typical suburban neighborhood This is like anywhere USA literally right, you know, yeah It could happen anywhere. Well, well Rest in peace to the young man.
That's terrible. Yeah, it's terrible for the whole one Raven Okay, so then one last and these are just kind of personal omens and I hope I hope there are omens for good things So we have the fridge is really old and I've kind of wished it's death for a couple of years now She's been putting a hex in a curse for the last five And it's all those things. It's like why get a new one and spend a ton of money if it's working But like the ice machine doesn't work anymore and you know I don't like this about it and this little shelf is broken and and it's white and all of our other appliances that migrated to the the gun metal stainless and I'm thinking this I'm thinking because I want a new fridge This one will live for like 60 years. That's how this is gonna work out But I'm thinking you're at least 15 years old just dial ready.
So yeah, you better be careful Because I'm at least 15 year olds old so die already. Well, no, I have I get a B&I bonnet I can't I can't curse you. So anyway, I go down to get sour cream out of the fridge and we go through a lot of sour cream So we've got one of those great big tubs. I went picked it up.
Do you tell when sour cream goes bad? I don't know, but this didn't go bad. Well, you know, it gets moldy. I've actually had it fresh.
Yeah, right? Okay, it's color change then it's color change. I picked up this this tub of sour cream. It weighed about 15 pounds And I'm like holy crap what happened it was frozen solid and not like oh, it's got some little crystals in it Maybe you should turn, you know, your fridge warmer.
It was solid like a rock literally like deep-free solid ice cream, you know But ice cream that's in your deep freeze that's waiting on it. Yeah, like it's hard and you can't get this scoop in it hard This is like a sample from NASA for the surface of Pluto exactly like it like bender like bender spoon hard Anyway, but you know your fridge when your fridge goes out. It's usually does the opposite thing It usually just stops working and gets warm and everything stinky No, you even grab the handle of the fridge and the handle of the fridge is colder than it should be the sour crap froze Yeah, we have sour crap on that top shelf my cuters froze and freeze But you know what? Sour crap on a stick is such a treat Chocolate covers are missing popsicle sour crap flavor put it in the put it in the popsicle molds I'm not kidding.
You sour crap on a stick here. We go so gross. It's like overfest. Yeah, so Yeah, I think all these little things are happening to give you some personal omens anyway.
Hey Chad. Why don't we hit some business? Okay, we have an investigation coming up. It is going to be at the petite meet museum and school in pace in utah That's october 28.
Yes at 8 p.m. Off the charts off the charts last time I was there my whole group Not just me the whole group heard an audible scream and there was no place that that scream could have come from from the exterior I actually was told that I brought home an attachment from there and it took my wife and a friend to convince me of it and and cleanse me of it So be aware this place is not you know to be taken lightly And one of the fun things that we're going to do with this since it's so close to halloween is we're in first up Yeah, we are encouraging people to come in their halloween attire now keep it you know investigation friendly You don't want you know long flowing dresses that you're tripping over or you know things that are going to make a investigating difficult Right, especially patina. There's a lot of stuff and so you don't want to wear something that's big that would knock stuff off It really it's it is a museum. So remember that it is an actual museum right by fun and kind of stairs people yes, so Chad said I got to pick the custom will let raven pick the winner of the I don't know what we'll call it the spooky is the funnest I think we need to because that seems that's awesome that I get to pick But maybe we could have all of the apps investigators vote on it Do like a silent what we have like a little silent ballad or something we'll figure something out But anyway, we're gonna do that and then there will be a cool prize for the the personal wins that now Or neo but but nothing else we did one of these a couple years ago at a halloween thing at cemetery where we actually had people Look for the oldest Birthday or death date the oldest birthday on the gravesites They spent more time looking at headstones than investigating and be like, uh, I'll be over here investigating if you want to see my dancing rods work What was the price?
What was the prize? We had this really cool doll like creepy doll I had to buy two because I wanted to be creepy doll and um, it's one that like one of those animated ones You push the button and it like dances and sings this creepy song Yeah, but people were so excited about that part of it didn't investigate hardly it's like and we've got an investigation to I'm wandering around going you guys looking for dates. Yeah, here's the dates we got and I'm like okay Well, if you're looking into investigating there Had a good time they had a good see and that's what I figured it's like you guys want to take it You guys knew what you want to do here? So we push this as paranormal education and entertainment.
That's really our mission here And they were entertained. Yeah, and they had a great time and we were investigating and we did get some investigations in fact Isn't that the investigation where we got Sylvia our team member? Yeah, Sylvia's awesome. Hey, Sylvia Were you being girl?
She says she was actually gonna come to our last investigation She had at Rock Canyon, but she had family that popped in unexpectedly, so But yeah, and she had some friends that actually came down from auction so shout out to them Yeah, so they came so they had there were some arken people came to a rock Canyon investigation and that's And that's a drive if you're not aware of Utah geography probably about 90 miles or more Yeah, it's a good hour and a half drive to get from the provol Yeah, just from my house to Ogden is an hour and then it's another you know 25 minutes to Utah County So that adds up. Yeah, so thank you Ogden people We're in the big wild west here. We do try to jump around so that not everybody has to drive a lot But yeah, and Jan has got nothing on us And that investigation that we did was at a cemetery up in Ogden And so we do our investigations along the Ross edge front well and in Piautia, Nevada too Yes, we do. So oh that was awesome.
Oh, that was awesome. Okay, so what else have we got along the line of business? Some library events coming up we do if you've never been to our library then if you're more of a hardcore investigator And you've done a lot of investigations You this might not be your thing This is more to draw in people that have never done it before because we'll do an hour hour and a half presentations at PowerPoint But it's it's entertaining and we talk about all the aspects of ghost hunting and this is this and that is that sure some evidence Sure some evidence and you know let people have an open question answer session and then we do a very abbreviated abbreviated think yes the word that came to mind was exaggerated and I know that's not the right one I'm a very abbreviated investigation. You know we might do two rotations of about 15 to 20 minutes But you know sometimes we found some really cool stuff.
Oh, yeah Investigation yeah, especially the American Fork Library because it has the DUP the daughters of Utah pioneers That don't know acronyms It's everybody you don't hate them anyway daughters of the Utah pioneers They've got like a little museum of their own on the same lot as the library and there's about what five or six old cabins Yeah original pioneer cabins. You know dating from the mid to late 1800s here in Utah So and we have a lot of activity. There's a teenage girl there that's just a chatty cathese who loves it when we come out there And there's a great they've had great investigations at the Chapman Library, which is a 1930s Carnegie Library City Library, but that's it's great because it's an old library. It's very cool.
And then the sprinkle library. It's a new library It's only I don't know 15 20 years old. Yeah, it's it's quite new compared to most libraries But it was actually built on the site of the old jail And slash more I think it was a more do it one time So even though the building is newer and it's just a library it's on land that has some history And as we've told you before it doesn't have to be old buildings to have fauntees Anyway, so if you're looking for kind of a paranormal 101 lesson and want to come see what it's all about I'm you know if you're listening to this podcast, you probably already know what it's all about But if you have friends, they're like, I don't know it seems weird We only do this time of year. So take advantage of it.
Right. Yep. And you need to get those tickets through those libraries We're not the ones that control the tickets and and there's there and they're no cost Yes, these are these are things that the library puts on we don't I mean we schedule them because we have to be able to be there But this is all through the library. So you have to contact the library So that would be the American Fork library in American Fork the Springville Library in Springville and the Chapman Library in Salt Lake City Yes, and we'll have those I think the first one that we're doing is October 6th.
That's Chapman Library I don't have the dates for the other two off the top of my head they are in October and they are on our website on the advanced paranormal.com website Yes, so just look at Chapman is a known haunted venue Oh, it's got some I won't tell you stories because this podcast is gonna be about three hours long But they've got some crazy crazy stories of the Chapman Yeah, it's fun to hear the people at the Chapman tell the stories that they've had One other thing that's going on and maybe doc you can give a little more information on this because I know you follow that The Indian Hills Horror is scheduled here towards the end of the month of October with Halloween Do you have any information on that doc have you been working with that at all? I just helped set up some walls today for the haunted house. Uh, yeah, we're running October 27th and 28th in the evening and then also on Halloween night October 31st And that goes from like eight until 10 on yeah usually by the time it gets dark 73 or eight until 10 or 11 depending on the weekend We may be up until 11, but I'll double check. But yeah, I would say Definitely between hours of eight and ten will be open.
It's pretty awesome We've had last year we had about twenty five hundred people go through and you know, hopefully we'll have more this year Sounds awesome. Yeah, and you can go out and see a preview of the of last years or a youtube video of last years by going to advanced purnomol.com And I believe on the events page or on the front page. There's a link to meaning until swore and there's a youtube video link It's well worth it's well worth the money. It's how there's no money They do and you know, well, we should say we Encourage you to make a donation.
They spend a lot of money getting things set up and there's no money required But they do have a kind of a tip jar at the end for donations and everything gets plowed back up into it because they're not making any money on this This is always a loss for them, but it's something they love doing. That's awesome. That's awesome We'll have a memo and all of that set up It's we do it because we love it We honestly it started years ago because I felt like Halloween was kind of going downhill because we were doing trunk retreats And I just didn't feel like there was a lot of people you know I felt like the spirit of Halloween was dying out so we decided to put a house to try to pull pandemic will do that But yeah, we were trying to we were trying to pull, you know, neighborhood kids out to come in joy and honestly I'll say now because we've been doing this for years. I think since you're 17 Yeah, I would say that the Halloween has become I don't know what I was hoping I mean people decorate kids around in the street.
It's it's a lot of fun now But I felt like there was a period of time in probably early 2000s where I felt like I don't know The Halloween spirit was dying off and that's what inspired this and that's why we do it for free and we always have Yeah, it's the 17th year I'm looking on the website if you go to advancedparanormal.com It will go right to that Inditels for haunted house information provides the address the dates and times and a link to the youtube video It is really an amazing haunted house for a for any hunt not just a backyard hunt It is it's really good and speaking to putting you guys. What does everybody do after you go to a haunted house? Let's see. Let's see if we're on the same page here.
What do you do after you go to a haunted house? I go home. I'm gonna bet You don't go get ice cream. I can't eat ice cream that makes me sick.
Oh, I'm sorry. Oh, you lose Well, usually with this haunted house we help clean up We've been doing for 17 years. This one will hang out with family and I'm talking as a patron I'm not an employee. Yeah, we're chattel pull down for setting up.
Yeah, but we encourage you to get there early I mean the lines can get very long. They actually, you know, I don't know if they call me like those Like little mazes the maze in the front where you queue people up in I mean they have one of those in the front Yeah, the queue would ever they get a good one of those in but they do move people really quickly. Okay moving on So we had a remember the residential we talked about last time Well, we did one today, but we still have that other one with the very very dark type three So demonic entities were still dealing with that one But we actually had a residential today Drake. Do you want to give a little bit of background on it since it's your friend?
So this is actually would have been the third time we've actually been under the helper The first time we removed a type three I'm in a little boy that we found and in the second time the type three Worked itself back in we moved it again tried to open up the portal the same type three the second time Yes, it was the same it was the same one that worked its way back Yeah, the second time and then the one today Was just one that happened to just be coming coming by and Wiked an elephant statue that she had attached itself to it. Yeah, so these demonic entities have never had a body Their ultimate goal is to attain a body Or at least one of their ultimate goals is to attain a body I was not there today was there like a big portal in the house or close by close by yes close by yes So this is down somewhat by the Jordan River. Is that correct? Yes, and that's where the portal is And it's huge.
Yep. They say it's about the size of the football field with the water You know all the water. Yep. Yeah, so it's funny because the problem area was upstairs in a particular bedroom And the homeowner just always kind of had this creepy feeling like something was watching her and there's a in the room there was a Fire alarm that had been unplugged there's just a wire and whiskey one of our newer investigators had a k2 meter He's a good guy.
I really like him. He was with us in P.H. Yeah And he he put you know his meter up there and it just spiked and he says you know some of the feeling that you're getting is probably just All the electromagnetic stuff coming from this wire from house wiring. Yeah, he said, you know, you might want to Even just for safety's sake, you know, plug the fire alarm back in because then the electricity won't Kind of be just shooting out.
It'll be doing what it's supposed to be That's a legitimate, it's a legitimate concern. Yeah, he fell down. Yep. But the interesting thing is when we first got there We've never I mean we've only ever investigated the upstairs But I just felt like there was a spirit in the kitchen and I'm like are you having any activity in the kitchen?
She's like no and Greg and I both look at each other like yeah, we're feeling something in there It was a very very low level type three And so we went upstairs not really find anything upstairs and so we said let's go back down to the kitchen So we went back down to the kitchen and we salted the type three in the kitchen So it couldn't roam around so we just kind of like you just stay put Tilly To already to deal with you already to come back So we went back and Lucy if you know if you've been listening to us and all Lucy's the spirit that lives in there the Resident demon The old family tree. Yeah, there's in the basement family tree. She wasn't there but she can project from time to time And I think she misses people visiting because she will come and visit us sometimes on an investigation She was actually there and I can tell when she's there because I get a headache in a certain spot and I was like, oh I had certain like Lucy's here. So she knows certain investigators Rather intimately and just shows up when she feels you there.
Yeah So Drake is like, you know, he asked through the dowsing rods. I think didn't she if Lucy was there and the answer was yes And at least she was projecting there. She wasn't there, but she can predict And what's weird is I have never interacted with Lucy in at all I have never been to family tree. I've not any of that.
I've never interacted with her I'm didn't she was it. She was it the entity that was there that scratched you? And it was it was her okay, well, you're you're a you're a type three magnet dude. We all know that yeah, yeah Yeah, so he you know, Drake is like whiskey.
You gotta come over look at my neck He wears a t-shirt that in the paranormal world says scratch me We can't see it Scratch me. Yeah, somebody's taped it onto his back. Yeah, so we'll have to you will win over and he got a few pictures But um, you know, I looked at the back of Drake's neck and he definitely had a red scratch on the back of his neck It wasn't there later in the evening taken one for the team way to go Drake. So unless she's the first Yeah, Lucy was only there for what about five minutes.
So why are we pack band-aids? No? Yeah, I think she just pops in to say hi every now and then but I don't like her eyes because I'm a kid Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah So She was the one that caused the scratches or yeah, I don't think I don't think the other one was was strong enough to do any scratches No, I mean It was pretty anyone who's been on investigations with with me with you taking you around stuff knows I can find type three's I couldn't this was so weak that it didn't betray the type three No, I thought it was a type two and so the funny thing is I thought I felt like it's a type two in there just a grumpy spirit And so I asked charles because usually when I do a home investigation I don't pull out the dowsing rods until later brushes like is that a type two in there and it's like no so type one? No Type three yes, I was like oh didn't even feel because to me when I run into a type three demonic entity You know when you put magnets together the wrong way and they kind of repel That's the feel I get and I didn't get that feel so but I did get kind of a grumpy standoffish feel So yeah, we don't ultimately our feelings are like they're often the best guys we have You know, yeah, so we kind of let him just stew in the kitchen We did find a type two Actually found two type twos and they wanted to cross over actually and they were actually trying to get the homeowner's attention because they had been there for a while They knew that she had paranormal friends that could help them And so were they under the service of the type three, you know, I don't think we asked that not not of this type three that was there Okay, so they had a little bit of agency The run over apparently well the one type two actually has interacted with us before is what because we asked have you interacted with us before And we got an immediate big.
Yes. Oh, yeah, that was so fast Maybe you planed to see the you know the first time that's cool Yeah, so we asked both of them we said you guys don't had to cross over They said yes the one hardly needed any encouragement at all the other one yeah He went first only quick. Yeah, it's almost like you felt like you needed permission or something I don't know the second one was a little more nervous a little more hesitant, but it didn't take too long Absolutely the second one grabbed me pretty hard on my hip before it went to Yeah, kind of almost like a reassurance kind of a thing wasn't it? You know, that's interesting because I've been bumping for sure That's it's you know, I've been bumped before by somebody just trying to rush past me to go through So I totally understand that you know They they they it's uh, I don't know what it is, but they when they cross over it's like if somebody's right in front of them Um, you're gonna feel it.
Oh, yeah, I think I think there may have been a little glitch when you guys talked over each other unknowingly Will you say again what you were saying about when the spirit grabbed you? I mean, it didn't feel like it was a reassurance grab. It was like a full-on like grab to alleviate pain or something. Yeah, we had to kind of ask through the dowsing rods what that grab was all about but it turns out it was kind of a Kind of like they were like they were lame and like needed to lay on you or something.
No like someone grabbing you Like someone's getting some pain and they grab your arm or they grab your hand and they're squeezing for support Yeah, I get it to alleviate their pain. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Just they just need somebody to lean it on for a moment. Yeah, I get it So then we clean she has a lot of buda statues and a lot of elephants statues in her home So we just cleansed all those we did a basic cleansing on the house just to make sure that there wasn't any residual She seemed happy and we were happy so we came home and now we're recording our podcast All right, that's great on a residential.
Let's follow up a little bit what we did at the rock canyon in event That was a great event that we had on the 16th It was We had some pictures a couple people send pictures of some blue lights that we can't explain You know, some people said oh did you have this piece of equipment on? Yes, not in that area You know is it this it's like because someone wondered if it was you know some distortion from flashes But the way you know I wasn't there, but I saw those pins and they do not look like lens reflections at all There that's something very blue that's actually in the field of view of the camera Well, and the thing about is lens reflections are often going to be round You know like an orb in front of this looked like it was behind the vegetation. Yep, and that's not what you're gonna get on you know light refraction or It's like no It was you know wisps it was wisps wisps and the willows actual wisps not just a stomp Although I kind of got sort of lost. Oh, this was kind of interesting So we had enough investigators that I could just kind of pop back and forth and make sure everyone was okay I've gone off with christy's group and you know making sure that they're You know getting evidence and having an experience and they were doing good So then I went back to check on great group And I'm you know stomping through the path and I had actually followed christy's group in and not really paying attention I'm just you know following and then as I came out I was walking walking walking walking and I thought I'm not popping out where I think I should be popping out And it wasn't too big of a deal because it's right at the mouth of a can and you can see these big peaks And I knew that if I walked this way with my left hand towards my left hand Then at some point I would pop out on the job within a few hundred yards.
You're gonna be right I mean, I wasn't worried about but you suddenly found yourself in a locale you didn't recognize Yeah, I mean it's one of those things that's like I mean I know where I am but I didn't know how to get to where I wanted to be I wasn't worried that people would find my body in the spring, you know having been picked over by animals or anything I mean that's good The thing that concerned me though is I'm like I don't want to be walking onto a cougar I'm talking like a real life cougar not a BYU fan because we are very close to the BYU campus there But you know like an actual Cougar that can eat me any predator. Well, and then in my mind too, it's like it's September It's black winnow season. I don't want to be walking through a black. What do I mean either?
So I kind of had a minor panic when I look at the peak and like if I just I was at one point forging my own path Through who knows what? I don't even want to know what I don't know how close to cougar I got her bear But I was I was a little nervous probably not too close to cougars bears because with as many people that were in the mouth of a canyon that night They most of them I know but they wait, but I know I was out in the brush and wait a minute I was gonna get eaten you were not that far from from BYU you were you were within very close proximity to thousands of thousands of cougars Hey, I almost died work with me here. Okay, maybe not but I finally got I finally was like I just got to walk that way So I just started forging my own path through who knows what and popped out and I was like oh Which I knew I would but when you finally do there's kind of a Really of yeah made it and yeah, yeah, yeah Get out. Yeah, right and so I went back to kind of a scam to collect myself Drake your grandma was there.
I like yeah Is that when I was letting you know that the type that he was calling you by a name right about that same time? Yes, so before that happened though I get back to base camp jake scrambles there And so she didn't want to venture out too far so we sat and did some Investigating with her just in the area and I turned on my there's an amphitheater there that we used as our base camp So I turned on my ghost leader pro and instantly a spirit start talking to us and it was a native american That happens right there. That's true. Yep.
So it says native american spirit and apparently she was following me because she was worried about me Because she was worried that a cougar was gonna come eat me she didn't say that but I answered that part But she was worried about me so she was following me and then Drake do you want to talk about what happened next? About when the type three was calling you out my name. Yes Yeah, it's I was actually a little uh Impressed slash yeah, I pressed the best way to put it. I wasn't getting a lot of evidence It's with my group Until that type three started calling out raven's name like in succession raven raven raven raven raven See it's not like a device or just level two.
How are you getting the name? Uh whiskey had uh whiskey had a uh whiskey had a no whiskey had a spirit box going oh a spirit box Okay, so you were getting it coming so you were getting it audibly Yeah, yeah, we're speaking of equipment audibly and yeah Right Came up and then it shut up. I know so I got there it went in a wrap anything And then it was telling whiskey. Oh raven's my name.
I'm like no, it's not you liar Yeah, I think it was calling me out once I got there and all my bad ass or you got scared. I don't know Sounds good Stop saying your name. I kind of antagonized it a little bit and it didn't say much and It just kind of died there. Yeah, well and then I had such an insane week I know had such a busy week that I think it kind of caught up to me And I started not feeling very good So then I spent the last hour sitting in the car and I wonder if some of that might have been a psychic attack too Could have been you know that it did call you out and because you did spend about the last hour of the investigation in the car because you were freezing And yes reason it just didn't feel good and didn't feel good and that came on rather suddenly.
I mean you had it felt fine Yeah, mostly the day so anyway, that was weird, but it was fun. It sounds exciting So ruckaining can be a very A very busy a very active and quite dark investigation. It's it's one. We'll we'll probably go back in a couple of years It's a great place to do investigations.
I think we lost Drake. I see yes Okay, I'm gonna say So you kind of started sounding a little bit like um Max headroom It was like an omen The Foley and web you're just drifting out of this universe. Yeah, and then I was like that thing and then I was like wait a minute Drake's gone. You weren't gone very long.
Well, it's yeah, it's both You and Emmett frozen and I was in dawn. Well, we're glad you're back now. Let's continue on with omens now that we've been going for 45 minutes 36 minutes. All right, we're good.
Okay on to omens when it comes to omens. I was trying to think of something Halloween omens are just kind of spooky No, they're not yeah, they're uh-uh Omens don't have to be spooky. They don't have to be positive or negative. I think it's a pretty broad definition really One thing I thought was interesting is if you google it, you know, I googled omens and you get a lot of superstition And you read through them and I don't know to me There's a very hard line between the superstition and the omen to me and omen is there's a sign and you can interpret it like you said Judge for something positive or you can interpret it for something negative that depends on what part of the world you come from and yeah, the The cultural influences are huge right on omens right yeah, but the superstition seemed a little different Yeah, with the omen the definition that I thought was interesting is it's it's a sign that something is about to happen Right where superstitions are things you just believe you shouldn't be like don't walk under a ladder or you know, right?
Don't crack mirrors those kinds of things but omens have been around like forever I mean literally I tried looking for date and it just has ancient times so Yeah back in the greeks back way you talk to my daughter she thinks 1980s ancient times, but you know whatever Yep, but even anciently they thought lightning cloud movement flights of birds past of certain sacred animals You know that tea leaves chicken bones, you know anything really yeah, yep And you know just kind of depended you know something even within those broad Genres you know, let's say birds, you know if it birds through this way it meant this if it flew that way it meant that And part of me thinks that's just too much crap to remember Yep Yeah, but you know you didn't have internet Fine, oh me crap. I love it. Oh man crap. Oh man crap.
Yeah, oh man crap. Yep So there was kind of a little subset of omens that I found interesting. It's gone. I don't know if I'm even gonna say this Oh, neuromancy have you heard of this?
Nope do it So a neuromancy is based on the belief that dreams are messages Sent by gods are the dead as warnings and they say that I mean, you know, some people people could say oh, that's just a whole different dreams but some people you know would say oh, that's an omen because it's something that is kind of sent to you I'm gonna give an example of um pharaoh stream from the bible, you know with the seven fat seven lean cows If you've ever seen the musical joseph in the technicolor amazing technicolor dream coat my favorite musical ever I can sing the whole thing Not well, but I can sing the whole thing. Um, that would be considered a neuromancy and an omen I was about to say that's because uh, or if you've had a dream about something happen and then eventually happens type of thing Well, I had a dream when my daughter was in junior high and this was right before like every kid of that age got a cell phone And I dreamed that uh, there was a gorilla in our backyard and I'm looking through the bedroom window out there at the backyard down And I'm yelling at my wife and she's saying what is going on? I'm saying there's a gorilla in the yard and my daughter won't get off the phone. So I can call 911 Was was that was that a divinely inspired dream?
Well, you'll know if you end up with a gorilla in your yard exactly Where you needed to get your daughter a cell phone, right? Well, that came that came shortly after because yeah, I mean it was You know, and then I you know, I got one about the same time It was nice to actually be able to get calls again. I have to admit my dreams are usually you have those dreams where you're out in public And you suddenly realize you're naked and so they end up the rest of the dream hiding in the bush or something Not a lot but once or twice. Yeah, we're minimally closed I told you about one just the other night last night when I told you I said yeah, it was like I couldn't find my pants It's like I had my boxers on and I'm walking around and trying to act like everything's just normal You're in church right or at work.
Yeah, just like it were out of the shops. It's like Hey, don't have you seen my pants? I'm wondering what that omen is about Really hoping that most of the dreams I have are not omens because there's gonna be some creepy shit going on Just be honest there Yeah, I mean, it's not really I don't really consider it an omen but I have had some spirits talk to me in dreams So oh I have to and they're cryptic when they talk to him dreams. They're pretty cryptic.
Anyway, it's weird Like a david lynch movie. Yep So we're just gonna kind of jump into some of the omens at least i'm gonna jump into some of the omens I found that We're really interesting or they found for us Raven and are they ominous? Yeah, actually well, no, not all of them Well, and that's one of the things ominous kind of portents a dark part or that Well, ominous omens is where it comes from but it doesn't but omens don't have to be about darkness But I tend to have a creepy person. Those are the only ones we really care about though, right?
Dark ones Yeah, they're so much more interesting than the happy fluffy ones Exactly Because i'm Quick come from the word only comes from the last or meaning for voting so that should be something inside of how most people do you own this? Happiness is not for voting no So they're creepy Thank you doc Okay, so and sadly it's a list they're numbered bullet point I might have a list later too. Okay, so black cats. Okay, I think everyone's pretty familiar with black cats Black cats.
Yeah, but we actually saw one at our residential tonight open the door to the garage and there's a black cat and i was like oh crap It's a no I gotta go home and read read my black cat omens and see what's going on You gotta find the alphat is I didn't know the black one I just knew was cat. Yeah, I was like oh hello black cat in English homes You had to greet the family cat with a kiss to bring good luck Not to me seems more like a superstition But yeah, I guess just seen the black cat was an omens like you saw the black cat you had to kiss it So you had good luck and not bad luck in the 16th century It was actually white cats that were the sign of bad luck not the black ones In Scotland if a black cat appeared on the doorstep. They believed that your wealth would increase Italy they felt oh so black cat on the doorstep. Oh, I'm gonna get money soon.
Sweet. Okay. So the cat to the local butcher All right, I mean in Italy they thought that All right, you know, they thought that the black cat seen them would prevent disasters at sea And they also believed that if a cat sneezed it forecasted rain or a sneeze or unusually playful behavior At least forecasts not that happens. Anyway, so that's some black cat omens.
Here's a positive happy one for Chad Rainbows in Scotland and Ireland. They said that rainbows who's ends touchdown within the same town or island foretold death It's also still believed in some places that to point a finger at the rainbow the moon the stars is bad luck Since at one time celestial bodies were thought of as gods and pointing at them was deemed disrespectful So I'm at UNI having worked in astronomy probably I noticed is aiming a telescope at it count is pointing at it I can't tell you how many stars are you can tell you how many stars I pointed at in my life Hey, look look this way look right here. Not where my finger is but where all these other circumstances aim you to look You know in Disneyland the the actors there can't point they have to use their whole hand to direct you Did you know? Well, I believe it.
That's one of the little Superstitions tidbits. I know well, it's just rude to point so they hold their head a lot of bolsters think pointing is rude And I was thinking on it, you're probably more like paparazzi than anything pointing that telescope up at the stars This guy down Okay, so I'm sure you guys have heard of this one comments comments We're always believed to proceed great events So shooting stars on the other hand we're thought to foretell people's deaths And the interesting thing about think about omens is a lot of them are foretelling death And so I almost wonder if they were just a way to explain unexplainable deaths You know back in the old days when they couldn't explain them because everything revolves around death Look a comment during of the reign of a monarch would foretell disaster during his reign, you know Yeah, and then how much of that is just um, you know, you see, uh, what's the word I want If you're gonna mention comments, you can also I mentioned Mark Twain died the same time that uh, he was coming back around. Oh, he was born. He was born on the same day too Yeah, oh I heard that and he would go out with the comment.
Yeah, he made that prediction Maybe he's a maybe he's an alien It's like a 76 year orbital period Um for me to see it again, I'd have to live to be over a hundred so I was in my 20s when I saw it so They didn't get to happen but anyway, but you know where that this came from with the stars shooting stars Nowhere they said that it was believed at the time that everybody had a star in the sky that represented their soul So if your star fell you were you were you were canceled That's an that also was in line with the name of american thing too. Oh, what's that? That pretty much once you you die and stuff like because they put you in they bury you they don't bury you they put you up in the sky and No fire and that's your soul going to the scars. Yeah, that's cool.
I never heard that before Okay, the next one's tingling ears. You may be heard about it Says tingling itching or a feeling of warmth around your ears is that to meant that someone's talking about you have you ever heard that before? I've even heard your burning. Here's your burning.
I'll say hey, are your ears burning? I was just talking about you I actually say that um, but there's actually associations that have been made for each year So the right where the right ear means the words being spoken about you are good And if you get sensations in the left ear, it's bad But if you had ringing in the ears, it was predicted that somebody was going to die So again, we got death going on there But that makes sense with spirits. I mean if you've got a lot of spirit activity on your left side It's most likely negative spirit or good spirits are gonna hang out more on your right side Right and you see all those old cartoons with daffy duck or someone and he's got the angel deck on one shoulder and the devil duck on the other shoulder And they're talking back and forth and that that kind of goes back to this this origin of which you already hear things out of them. How do you hear this?
Okay, so there's stuff about bats. Um, if you find a bat flying around your home on halloween, it's the ghosts that are haunting your house that let it inside So so the omen there bat in the house means you also have ghosts in your house And that reminds me my parents have a cat and you want to know what they named the cat? Yes, go ahead. Yep The name of my parents cat is cat in the house Okay, anyway, so you know why I am so weird because I get it from my parents Not cat in the hat cat in the house.
That's that's the name that work. I see it works I mean mine mine's after tigger because that's what he does it bounce around all day, right? Most people named their animals max tigger buddy Maple I heard a dog. Well when my daughter had her kitten, you know 30 years ago.
I used to call it little animal Cat in the house. Hey little animal. What are you doing? Bat in the house cat in the house.
We had a cat named mire because that's the sound that made from here. You got mire mire You remember that dog? Or do that's all about a pia? Okay, if you light a candle in your house and it flickers turns blue and then suddenly self-extinguishes It means right it means your house contains a ghost or a dead spirit good or bad kind of depends on how you live in your life It'd be kind of cool to see well.
Well, you know before we podcast our flicker our lights did weird things in flicker And I did it twice and I know I've got three spares my house. So there you go. They turned blue. Did they turn blue?
I don't know. I mean the one candle flint. It'd probably be a one to worry about. It's a black flame, right?
Okay, so a lot of people think that different cloud formations mean things so it kind of depends on the formation You've got high scattered clouds kind of known as a knackel sky I think is what they call that that meant that you were safeguarded from rain for at least 12 hours Others kind of relied on the color so greenish rain clouds meant more rains to come Green after sunset meant that wind was headed your way Red and you've heard this one read it kind of depends. Have you ever heard red sky at night sailors delight red sky in the morning? Take morning. Yeah So if it's at night you've got good weather if it's in the morning you got better and to me those aren't really oh man's That's just calling I think those are actually always because it is a sign that something is about to happen Well, like an actual omen.
I guess not a everyone's gonna die. Maybe maybe based on Well, the only man's based on science or yeah, it's based on experience of old sailors not on black cats walking across your porch But now listen you can believe old sailors but old wives tales. I mean come on Okay, so the last one I'm in trouble now All right, I'm in So the last one I've got is holding your breath and I would do this with my kids I don't know where my kids heard this but the idea was you have to hold your breath when you pass the cemetery so that the spirits don't get into you And so I had heard that really I haven't heard that either So I actually I actually hadn't heard this until my kids told me they're like mom Cemetery's coming up. I'll tell your breath and so me being the parent I am and my kids are all holding their breath in the car I would drive slower and See how long they could And both of the roads that we go out on either to go west or to go south both past pretty substantial cemeter Yeah, you can't leave my house and go anywhere without diving past the cemetery So there was a lot of breath holding yeah, and so it was kind of fun because I start driving slower and I hear him in the back Okay Anyway, yeah, so that's what that's what it's like having me as your mother.
Sorry. So anyway, but holding a breath I guess I thought my kids made it up but apparently it's a thing It says when passing graveyards children in north america europe and other parts of the world held their breath for fear that they'd breathe in souls of the recently deceased And kind of along these same lines, uh british and french people at one point had a belief that the keeper of the graveyard was the soul of the last person buried in it And it was this soul's job to keep watch until the next person laid was laid to rest which you know seems fair to turn now it's their turn And so in an alternate story it says that the first person in a parish to pass on was thought to keep watch for it for the next year So there's just well you could be signed up or something that you didn't even know you were in line No, you're dying. You're like I got a guard this place for a year dang nobody told me Okay, I did okay This really has nothing to do with almonds, but it has to do with the cemetery and it's super funny My grandpa was born in Utah, but moved Idaho for a job. They lived in this tiny tiny tiny tiny little town called meekre kydoh and it was it's a spec Of a town very pretty but just tiny.
I'm gonna miss it. It's up my Preston Idaho by Napoleon dynamite's hangout spots Yeah My grandpa lived in house obviously across the street was an old school next door to it was a church and behind the church was a cemetery It was kind of the typical cemetery behind the church And his job was kind of caretaker of the cemetery and so he would go up and and drag around irrigation pipes and you know clean up the flowers after Memorial day. Well one evening he was up there my grandpa I don't know if other people's grandpas do this did your grandpas have like a uniform that they were? I mean it wasn't really uniform, but they were just kind of wore the same thing all the time Yeah, overalls.
Yeah, my grandpa was a retired diesel mechanic So he just wears his mechanics overalls the other grandpa was a retired master sergeant in the army So he just wears khakis and his white undershirt and his shoes, you know army shoes every day Right. So my grandpa I only saw him in two things. I saw him in a Sunday suit And I saw him in green kind of like army pants and a white t-shirt and a baseball hat So imagine my grandpa I put a cemetery Out in the middle of literally nowhere A lot of dairies so there's more cows there than people And he's you know and it's getting dark and he's bent down behind a headstone Getting a pipe maneuvered around where it needs to be And a car comes driving up with some kids in it And he just stands up to see what these kids are doing And so I'm sure all they could see was a white thing coming up from behind a headstone He says he scared them so bad. He's like I've never seen anybody reverse a car out of a cemetery so fast Because it's not a big enough road, you know to turn around on anyway kind of a funny story I mean if they're driving around a cemetery at night and they see that early morning, that's their own fault Yeah, so anyway, but points to him for for doing that.
That's cool Funny thing is he didn't do it on purpose. He just stood up. He wasn't like kind of scared these kids. He's just White sure the dark, which makes it all the more better.
I know it's going to crap out of them All right, Emmet, do you have a segment for us today? Well, I just want to tell you about is uh something I noticed when we were in p oach last month And uh, you know, I've always avoided using the screen capture mode on the sfls camera Because supposedly it's so hard on resources, you know and you risk Dumping a uh the file But I did try it in p o it's just because I wasn't ready with anything else to capture it I got just we got you remember in boot hill. We got some amazing Amazing sls captures. Oh, yeah, and some amazing spiders.
Yeah, I totally have really No, but there's no audio on the sls file So always you know, if you're if you're running an sls and you're not shooting the screen with a camera or a cell phone You know at least run a an evp recorder Be sure to capture the audio because the the screen capture file On at least both versions of the connect software that I own there's no audio capture at all Same on both of my sls. There's no audio. No audio. Yeah, I don't remember that I don't think they've got a microphone associated with them.
I mean there could be no they don't know they don't know the actual connect And at the moment you're getting this footage. You're not thinking about it, right? You're just you're just oh, I'm getting this great foot, you know, but um so always remember You know if you're gonna go to do the screen capture with your sls camera run something to capture the audio also No, good to know good tip. Okay, and if you want to synchronize it the way to do it is Have somebody stand in front of the sls camera in the field of view While your audio recorder is running have them clap their hands so that it's captured on both devices And you'll be able to sync up audio from then on yeah, but you have to do that with every new file So don't forget that.
Yep, very cool. That's that's it I just want to remind everybody of our shop at advanced purnhamwood.com you can get merch from Anything there is phone cases shirts mugs stickers There's a lot of stuff there. We have do we have phone cases? Oh, we do monogrammed with art with our name on them.
Yes Oh, that is so cool Yeah, and brian has one too So cool. Alrighty. So our junk drawer. You ready for this one.
I am so it's Halloween ish time. We talked over I know you set up the uh all of the Halloween decorations in the house this week I would set up decorations in august if it wouldn't get me weird looks from the neighbors Okay, that happens anyway. Yeah Have you heard of the real-life vampires? I mean like little vampires other than mosquitoes And that's one of those on the south get pretty big.
Um, so I think most people realize that vampires are real But they are to a point do tell if you were thought to be a vampire back in the day They would actually bury you with a rock or a brick in your mouth. Have you heard of these? Yes, something like that. Yeah, that's a gothic thing This was thought to keep them from returning from the dead the old stick through the heart wasn't enough Yeah, they did it was thought that vampires could eat their way out of graves unless something hard stopped them So, you know, they would unearth the salaries if I remember right not only would they put a brick or a rock in the mouth who would also Decapitate them too.
Oftentimes it'd be decapitating But there's under the skeletons Actually the two stories of two of them And so this this first story is it was a woman's body It was in it's about two miles from Venice idly. It was a 16th century grave and the woman is nicknamed karmilla And she was found with her with a brick she was in a mass grave she had a brick in her mouth And it was just not something that they normally see it was very uncommon at the time But they don't really know much about her, but they do know she died during an outbreak of the plague the bubonic plague the one of the Investigate investigators one of the researchers that found her said he had to find an explanation for someone You know for some reason, you know, why did they do this? They actually kind of did this you know a forensic investigation to try to figure out what was going on And they thought that she was probably thought to be a knock-zer I don't know if I'm saying that right knock-zer Which is a type of vampire in old European folklore Don't think of the classical vampire out sucking your blood the Dracula vampire. Yeah, it's more in a perfect suit with tails and Exactly the pointy teeth and turns into a bat at night But think of it more as someone is killing people from the grave before being able And then rising as a full vampire.
It's like they're not a vampire yet But when they die and then they come back to life then they'll be there And so what they found was that there was a tradition that said that there were bodies people believed were responsible for spreading the plague again You know they're trying to understand they don't understand fleas and cleanliness and so they're trying to make sense And so they figured that these bodies that were buried weren't completely dead and they were captured by some, you know, demonic influence And then would come back to life And so they were true they thought that they were chewing chewing through their shroud inside the graves And spreading the plague and some sort of the black magic come back to life Kind of way Well, this ties in a lot to what we talked about recently with the uh the bells on the All the graves that will be buried alive. Yeah, it ties that's nice. I think it ties right into that very live episode But we just did yeah So they they just figured that placing a brick in her mouth would keep her from chewing her way out And it would protect everybody from diseases and the way they thought she wouldn't have been considered a vampire during her lifetime It would have been Like the way she died and coming back afterwards and they felt since great figures confronted with the body Seemingly still fresh and the shroud decomposed around the mouth may have assumed the body was possessed In place to break place to he brick in there. So it was more like after she died Interesting.
I also wonder if uh because when the body's decomposing being or nails grow out because the skins retracting teeth grow longer Against skins retracting. That was a factor Yeah, they're not actually growing they just appear to yep. All right. Well, thank you my auntie friends Are they gonna stay spooky?
Let's take that out because i'm an idiot. I'm gonna leave it in but you can start over It's been a long couple weeks. It sounded good. Stay spooky my auntie friends.
That's my actual sign off Oh my gosh, I don't even know why I'm signing off. How long have I been doing this? I'm an idiot. Have a good night We'll see you next time.
