Omoo Chapter Chapters 35-36

In which the sailors, newly ashore, are visited by Doctor Johnson whose prescribed remedies are met with merry mistrust and subverted into convivial indulgence, culminating in a quaint episode of collective slumber that perplexes their well-meaning physician. Afterwards, they are summoned before the consul to confront formal accusations and legal documents concerning their conduct, amidst a tense assembly that reveals much about authority, loyalty, and the hardened spirit of seamen.
