In which our wanderers make a leisurely exploration of the village of Partoowye, observing both the native dwellings and the ambitious yet ill-fated attempts of a Yankee carpenter to improve local architecture, before seeking access to the reclusive queen’s residence without success. Afterwards, they meet a disconsolate English ship-carpenter entangled in a romantic quandary, pay a calling upon the solitary whaler Leviathan anchored in the harbour, and muse upon her worn but steadfast appearance.
