On Air With David Duane w/Special Guest: Ryan Henry & Lorine Chia

from Le Journal du Rire

Ryan Henry is the owner and creator of 9Mag, a prominent tattoo shop. He brought together his team, who are the most talented artists in the city, to help build his tattoo empire in Chicago. Ryan grew up on the streets of the south side of Chicago. Once he got into tattooing, his sister Nova helped fund his blossoming career. Not long afterwards, she and Ryan's niece Ava were murdered by an ex-boyfriend. At that point, Ryan's life was forever changed. Ryan put the money towards 9Mag, which stands today as a tribute to his sister. Though a bit moody and unpredictable, underneath Ryan's tough exterior, is a loving and extremely caring guy. Ryan's family is everything to him and his world rotates around his son, Mason. Ryan turns to tattooing to clear his mind and to cleanse his soul. Unbeknownst to most people, Ryan is part Japanese and he searches for a deeper connection to his heritage through traditional Japanese tattooing.  Life often presents us with tests and trials just to bring us full circle to meet our destiny. It is within these tests and trials that we form our testimony and discover our life’s purpose. 22-year-old Cameroonian-born, Atlanta-based singer/ rapper/ songwriter Lorine Chia may have taken the long and winding road to her luminous destiny. But soon the world will know her name upon the release of her eclectic and highly anticipated EP Sweet Noise, produced by Rami Beatz (Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Juicy J). Her deep, velveteen vocals have been praised by the likes of Complex, Fader, and Billboard, while Pitchfork describes her as “plucked straight from a different era, but…ultra-contemporary. It’s apparent that before all’s said and done, Lorine Chia will be one of the most vaunted artists of 2016.
