On Our Purpose and Estates | LFC Part 15 | 1 Cor 7 | Sam Oyeyinka

from This Excellent Church - TEC · host This Excellent Church

Learning From the Corinthians Pt. 15 | 1 Corinthians 7:17-40God doesn't only call us into ministry—He also calls us into estates. This means He sovereignly orchestrates the unique circumstances of our lives, such as our nationality, family background, socioeconomic status, and natural abilities (Acts 17:26).What does this mean for us Christians today?1) We shouldn't be preoccupied with changing or escaping our estates, as if that's the goal of life. Instead, we should seek to fulfill God's purpose for our lives by doing His will within the circumstances He has assigned to us. 2) Our estates—especially favourable ones—are not the essence of our life. They are temporal conditions that will eventually pass away. Christ is our life, so we should live with eternity in view as pilgrims in this world. This principle reshapes how we view marriage and singleness: marriage is not a superior estate that will complete us, and singleness is not an inferior estate to be escaped.Wherever we are, whatever we have, let's pursue the will of God for our lives.
