[On Purpose, Summer 2026] Sherman Mohler, President, Southwest Paleontological Society: A Noted and Established Paleontologist Embraces God's Word, Fossil Hunting, Evolutionary Theory, and His Christian Faith (Part 1)

The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Text us your questions for apologist and pastor Robby Lashua!Sherman Mohler discovered a dinosaur.Well, technically, he was part of the team that unearthed, cataloged, researched, and ultimately named Ornatops incantatus, a type of duck-billed dinosaur that roamed northern New Mexico approximately 80 million years ago.By the way, Sherman discovered this dinosaur not too far from where he goes to church while he's on fossil expeditions.Wait.  Church?  Fossils?  80 million years?  Is it possible to include all of these things in the same episode of Kingdom Culture Conversations? That is the reason that Sherman Mohler, a recognized and accomplished paleontologist, who serves as the president of the Southwest Paleontological Society, accepted the invitation to be our guest for what will be two days of very intriguing conversation.  Plainly said, Sherman wants our students and listeners to know that you can follow Christ, believe your Bible, and hold to an understanding that the world is billions of years old.  Further, he's inviting us to do the work -- read the research, study God's Word, examine the evidence -- and, decide for yourself, recognizing that your security in Christ and position in your Christian faith are not at risk.To learn more about the Southwest Paleontological Society, please follow this link.To learn more about the Arizona Museum of Natural History, please click here.Ready to take Sherman Mohler up on his challenge?  BioLogos.org is a Christian nonprofit organization founded by geneticist Francis Collins, best known for leading the Human Genome Project. The organization seeks to promote what it describes as the harmony between Christian faith and modern science, particularly in areas such as evolution, genetics, cosmology, and the age of the earth. BioLogos generally advocates for “evolutionary creation,” the view that God used evolutionary processes in creation.
