On the Existence of Demons and Opinions | LFC Part 17 | 1 Cor 8 | Sam Oyeyinka

from This Excellent Church - TEC · host This Excellent Church

Learning From the Corinthians (Part 17) | 1 Cor. 8:4-13 & Romans 14:1-23In Christianity, there are essential matters over which believers can't hold different opinions, because our Lord expressly commands or forbids them in His Word. However, there are secondary matters over which believers may hold different opinions based on biblical principles. The Corinthian Church faced one such secondary issue: eating food offered to idols. Some felt this was acceptable since idols are nothing compared to the one true God. Others believed eating such food was equivalent to idol worship. How should we respond to similar differences in the Body of Christ today?1) Show compassion to fellow believers with different views, rather than quarrelling with them, remembering that we're all growing in knowledge.2) Willingly lay down your right if exercising it will cause a fellow believer to stumble. In doing so, we walk in love towards our brothers and sisters, just as our Lord commanded.
