On the power of coaching young people: Heather Torrens - Leading Stories

Send a textFollowing  a successful career as a professional musician, Heather moved into education where she has enjoyed responsibilities such as Senior leader at St Clement's CE Infant and Bethany CE Junior Schools, Specialist Leader of Education for Spirituality and Values, Music and R.E. Her roles have included Acting Assistant Head, Tutor for Initial Teacher Training, a School Improvement Champion and Coach for Coastal Learning Partnership.Two of her most recent projects include co-writing ‘Lift off! Leadership Skills for 7-12 Year Olds’ (Kevin Mayhew 2019)  and creating  the ‘VIVA-GO’ coaching book and resource. VIVA-GO coaching is a values based, solution focused quick and simple coaching tool for leaders, teachers and parents of children and young people. Values are what children stand on to navigate life, like a compass to steer forwards, even when the waves are overwhelming. So much in their lives- difficulty, stress and change, is outside of their control. Value based coaching strengthens mental health, empowers personal, social and educational goals and makes a hope and a future a reality.
