Hi, this is Pastor Diego. Welcome to the daily five. Thank you for joining us today. This podcast is designed to give you a short daily Five-minute word of encouragement to inspire you to think and act on God's word Hey everyone.

Welcome to today's episode. Thanks for tuning in today. I want to be talking about what the Bible says about how we should treat each other I think it's especially important now that the holidays are coming up and the New Testament has almost 40 verses of instructions on how we Should relate to each other and they all use this phrase one another That's why we refer to these verses in the Bible as one another commands These one another commands in the scripture tell us how we're to treat each other Let's read a few of these verses and the first one I want to begin with is spoken by Jesus himself and it's found in John chapter 13 verse 34 through 35 a new command I give you love one another. There's those two words as I have loved you.

So you must love one another There's those two words again by this everyone know that you are my disciples if you love one another Jesus is the model for love What we learn from Jesus is his love is sacrificial his love was consistent his love is unconditional It's a love with no strings attached and the way he loved us is the way that he asks us to model That love for other people we can model the love of Christ when we seek to love other people in the same way another verse is found in Romans chapter 12 verse 10 and it says be devoted to one another in love honor one another above yourselves now This might be a little bit difficult for some because I know that all relationships are difficult and they require loyalty and devotion But the command that we find in this portion of Romans is really clear This verse tells us to honor other people above ourselves. That's countercultural to how we live But what does this look like listen? It's not just holding the door open for somebody at the store or letting a waiting car in at a crowded intersection honoring others above yourself It means thinking of their desires their wishes and their benefit may be at those times where you want to put yourself first It's putting them first. It's trusting God as you let go of what you feel is your right to be right as we honor honor other people We reflect that love of Jesus Paul again reminds us in Philippians chapter 2 verse 5 through 8 He says in your relationships with one another have the same mindset as Christ Jesus who being in the very nature God did not consider equality with God Something to use to his own advantage rather He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness and being found in appearance as a man He humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross listen There's no greater story than this one of Jesus putting others above himself So if he did this we should do it as well even though at times it can be hard We can try to do what he did finally I'm gonna finish with Romans and Romans chapter 12 verse 15 and 16 It says rejoice with those who rejoice mourn with those who mourn live in harmony with one another do not be proud But willing to associate with people of low position do not be conceded the scripture says Relationships are about rejoicing associating with and living humbly and harmony with other people Jesus modeled these behaviors for us He experienced joy and sorrow Jesus didn't come to earth to hang around the popular and the pretty people But to reach the outcast in the marginalized to notice those who least expect to be noticed This is something that we should model today the Bible cause is not only to associate ourselves with others But also to feel their pain and share their joy and that's exactly the kind of love that Jesus modeled for us What would our world look like if each day we said I'm in it for you instead of what's in it for me?

God bless you. We'll talk again tomorrow
