One Bad Mother
from Christ Centered Cast Hosted by C3 Ministries
No matter how you may feel you have fallen short as a mother, grandmother, or aunt, God shows us in Scripture one woman who puts any of your perceived shortcomings to shame. If we dig into the text however, we see that her biggest fault was not actually murdering the royal family as a power grab, it was something that we all make a choice about every day. After the kingdom was divided following the death of King Solomon, a man named Ahaziah was appointed king in Judah, in the south. As it turns out, Ahaziah was just one more ungodly leader in an ungodly lineage. Interestingly, according to 2nd Chronicles, we’ll see that he received training in living wickedly from Mommie dearest. Big Idea: Avoiding Athaliah status isn’t about not murdering your family, it’s about modeling godliness.
