In March 2025, a birthday hike along the famous Nu'uanu Pali Trail on Oʻahu turned into one of Hawaii's most controversial criminal cases. Canadian hikers discovered Arielle Konig seriously injured after she claimed her husband, anesthesiologist Gerhardt Konig, had tried to kill her on a remote cliff. Gerhardt, however, insisted that he was the real victim. Was this a carefully planned attack, an act of self-defense, or something far more complicated? More than a year later, the case continues to raise difficult questions about truth, memory, and what really happened on that cliff in Hawaii.
