One Flesh Ep. 31 - Mr. & Mrs. Hoss Rauscher

In this episode I discuss the importance of truly becoming One Flesh, a sovereign unit inside a social and familial network. Holidays, finances, big life events, children; these are all areas that are highly subject to influence from outside parties for young couples and can be very hard on a young marriage. It is crucial to establish boundaries and declare yourselves independent of the outside family and social structures you were in before the marriage. This does not mean leaving those structures behind or turning away from your family, but simply changing the dynamic. There is no longer just "Hoss Rauscher" at the Rauscher Family Christmas. It is now "Mr. & Mrs. Hoss Rauscher". Establishing that difference and declaring your own identity with your spouse is key to the success of a long and happy marriage.
