One More Time: le titre funk de 1979 qui a donné naissance au plus grand tube de la French Touch

from L'Actualité Musicale · host Radio Monaco

👑🔥ENGLISH VERSION: One second of forgotten funk: How Daft Punk crafted their ultimate global anthem 🎧🔥We travel back to the late 90s, when the greatest anthem of a generation was being born from a nearly forgotten 1979 funk record by Eddie Johns. This specific brass riff caught the attention of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, better known as Daft Punk. Sampling just a single second of the track, they chopped it into micro-fragments, slowed it down, and filtered it to create an entirely new, unreleased groove. It was a complete masterclass in sampling technique that eventually became a worldwide textbook example. 🎶🕺For the vocals, they brought in American singer Romanthony, intentionally pushing his voice through heavy, experimental Auto-Tune—a daring artistic choice long before the effect became an omnipresent staple in global pop music. Completed back in 1998, the dynamic duo kept the track hidden on a shelf for two years, waiting for the perfect time. Finally released on November 13, 2000, One More Time opened the iconic Discovery album and instantly became a global phenomenon, hitting number one and defining the electronic French Touch sound forever.
