In this message, William explores the heart-searching encounter between Jesus and the rich young ruler (Mark 10:17-31), a sincere and upright man who runs to Jesus asking the biggest question of his life—“How do I inherit eternal life?”—yet walks away grieving because he cannot release what he trusts in more than God himself. Through love and personal vulnerability, William reveals how Jesus diagnoses the disease of the human heart: we often try to earn our way to God through morality and works, when the Gospel offers us a free gift that cannot be bought or deserved; and how money and possessions have a unique power to deceive us, promising status, security and significance that only God can truly provide (Matthew 13, Matthew 6:21). As you listen, hear William’s gentle challenge: identify the one thing you’re holding on to hardest—whether money, control, comfort or reputation—release it to Jesus, receive His forgiveness and Lordship in exchange, and discover that what you lose is far less than what you gain in knowing Him as Lord and Saviour.
