Only in Miami Radio Show Ep 33 - 880 The Biz - Save Our Libraries - 7/14/14

Episode 33 of the Only in Miami Show hosted by Grant Stern featured a talk about the proposed Miami-Dade County Budget and particularly how it is affecting our public library system, once an award winning, nationally-recognized library system that has been facing severe cut backs in recent years. We featured studio guests John Quick, President of the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library, Patricia Gromley, Save Our Libraries coalition partner and Dr. Terry Murphy, Board Member of the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library. By phone, we were also joined by Miami-Dade County District 7 Commissioner Xavier Suarez, who is also a former City of Miami mayor, and Frank Nero, former CEO and president of the Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County's Official Economic Development Organization. The Save Our Libraries coaltion has a special hashtag #restore64 referring to restoring the $64 million library budget. The county budget is being discussed July 15th and the downtown Stephen P. Clark Government Center.
