Only the insane would choose fear in place of love

We are all insane. Only we’re not aware of it.Insanity is unsoundness of mind. Believing in things that aren’t real.Reality is perfect oneness, unconditional love. There is no duality, no subject-object. And most disconcerting to our healthy egos, no you-me.We are so terrified of returning to sanity that we cling to this false belief that we are real and can suffer.Hence this line from A Course in Miracles: “Only the insane would choose fear in place of love.”We are all choosing fear. In fact, what we think of as peace is simply the abatement or temporary elimination of fear. But even in those “peaceful” moments, in the back of our mind is the worry that something will eventually occur that will take away our peace. Toward the end of glorious vacations or relaxing weekends, we bemoan the fact that we have to return to the “real world”.In the real “real world” there is no conflict. No worry. Only love. And no fear. So when we catch ourselves in the grip of fear, let’s remember that (a) we chose it during a temporary lapse into insanity, and (b) we can choose again.Support the show
