Onnie Chan, Founder, CEO & Director - ADA Lab and Women in Creative Technologies

from Adelaide Connected · host The Committee for Adelaide

Originally from Hong Kong, Onnie Chan has a background in theatre, arts and technology and is what we call an ‘Arrow,’ someone who is originally from interstate or overseas and has moved to Adelaide, South Australia. Onnie relocated to Adelaide at the start of 2022 to study a ‘Masters of Immersive Media Technologies’ at the University of Adelaide and quickly immersed herself in everything Adelaide has to offer. She was appointed Chief Student Entrepreneur at ThincLab, established ‘Women in Creative Technologies,’ a not-for-profit that supports and empowers women in the industry, and recently created ADA Lab, born from a vision to create a nurturing space where women in creative technologies can excel. We chat to Onnie about what inspires her, her passion for supporting women in creative technologies and how she has settled into life in Adelaide. This podcast was recorded on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people and we pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
