On our first preview episode for the 2023 Open Championship, we break down the golf course itself, Royal Liverpool, AKA Hoylake. We take a look at the course flyover, scorecard, and historical results to identify the key skills that golfers will need to play well here. We also identify some key stats and trends of previous winners at Hoylake and other Open Championship venues. We also look at the course characteristics to find a few Stateside comp courses for Hoylake of stats and skillsets that should serve as predictors for this week. Lastly, we run a custom model and see who are the top golfers with these stats and comp courses in mind.
