It's a mass-market layer of the internet now, even as stronger competition is clearly making growth harder to maintain. Europe tightens AI oversight That growth is arriving just as Europe is stepping up both enforcement and investment. In Brussels, the EU has launched a dedicated AI enforcement team to police harmful uses under the AI Act, including deepfakes, illicit imagery, cyber threats, and other high-risk behavior. The message is that AI companies will not only be judged on innovation, but also on labeling, accountability, and how they manage broader risks to society. Europe funds massive AI infrastructure In transportation, federal regulators in the US are moving to modernize vehicle rules so fully autonomous robotaxis can operate without traditional controls like steering wheels. That's a meaningful shift because the rules on the books were written for cars built around human drivers. Amazon-owned Zoox is one of the immediate beneficiaries, getting closer to charging passengers for rides in its purpose-built autonomous vehicles once local approvals are in place. The industry will welcome the clarity, but the debate is not over. Ford's CEO has warned employees that Chinese automakers could still enter the US market within the next five to ten years, even with today's tariffs and restrictions. That matters because Chinese brands have become especially strong in lower-cost electric vehicles, exactly where established carmakers are feeling the most pressure. China is building serious scale in robotics, just as it did in batteries, solar, and EVs, and that could shape who supplies the world's factories and warehouses for years to come. It's orbiting in the zone where liquid water could exist, and researchers have seen hints that gases may be escaping from the planet. The evidence is not settled yet, so this is very much a maybe, not a breakthrough you should frame on the wall. Still, if the atmosphere is confirmed, it would be an important sign that rocky planets around red dwarf stars can sometimes hold onto the conditions needed for long-term habitability.
