Robert Oppenheimer and his role in developing the first atomic bomb. The movie follows his journey from a fledgling scientist to spearheading the Manhattan Project that created the nuclear bombs that were eventually dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, effectively ending the Second World War. The movie’s latter half focuses on the closed-room security hearing of Oppenheimer that ended in his security clearance being denied.
