Orange Surge Begins with Angeli and Anderson | Syracuse Orangemen Football News

Syracuse’s ACC opener was a statement win, showcasing a team firing on all cylinders early—far from last year’s sluggish finish. QB Steve Angeli returned strong after injury, silencing doubts with clutch plays and a resilient knee scare that didn’t slow him down. With Ju’Juan Johnson out, freshman Shavane Anderson Jr. exploded onto the scene as a bruising, speedy back who’s already stealing the starting job spotlight. On defense, FCS transfer Keyshawn Johnson made an instant splash with 2.5 sacks and a strip sack—his consistency against elite competition will be crucial. The secondary looks locked in, led by a confident cornerback duo, including Demetres Samuel, who’s betting big on punt return touchdowns—and winning over teammates with swagger.
