Organic Waste to RNG to Environmental Attributes on The Green Insider

from The Green Insider Powered by eRENEWABLE

On episode 219 of The Green Insider, we bring you another podcast discussing Renewable Natural gas. Today’s guest is Grant Gibson co-founder and Chief Development Officer for Synthica Energy. Hear how Synthica can provide their customers with the choice of buying their natural gas plus the attribute or just buying the attribute, similar to buying a VPPA.  Synthica takes feedstock predominantly sourced from large food and industrial plants – no sewage and no hazardous waste.  Currently for their plant in Cincinnati they procure their organic waste from Proctor and Gamble and about 20 other local food and beverage manufacturers. Their current growth plans include developing five to six more RNG plants around the U.S. over the next few years. More about Grant GRANT GIBSON is Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer for Synthica Energy, a leading developer of anaerobic digestion facilities that convert food & industrial organic waste into renewable natural gas (RNG). A “green entrepreneur,” Gibson is an expert in sustainable technologies that turn waste into energy. He also has a passion for ultra endurance mountain bike racing, which translates to his professional life. Proper training through repetition and discipline minimizes risk of burnout, assessing race results (what went well, didn’t go well and where improvements are needed) but also tracking/analyzing metrics when it comes to power, cadence, heart rate and more. Information about Synthica Synthica designs, builds, owns, and operates large-scale, contracted anaerobic digestion facilities converting pre-consumer food and industrial organic waste into renewable natural gas (RNG). Founded in 2017 in Cincinnati, Ohio by Sam Schutte and Grant Gibson •     Broke ground on first facility in Ohio in Summer 2023 •     Closed on a large equity investment from the Infrastructure Business within Goldman Sachs       Asset Management in August 2023, which will help grow the Synthica platform •     Accelerating development of facilities in key target markets across the U.S., including Ohio, Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, and Louisiana •     Over the coming years, also planning to develop clean energy facilities in Florida, Illinois,  Missouri, New York, and Pennsylvania.
